Monday's Funny

Gabriel walked up behind me and patted my bottom and said "Momma, you have a cute little bottom."

That's my boy!

Swim Lessons & Fun Friday!

Gabriel has been taking swim lessons for the past three weeks...and they are going, well, okay. This past Friday, Jonathan had the day off, so he came to the lesson, and then he took Gabriel for lunch at Chick-fil-a, followed by an hour of "one more time" on the slide, and then they went to the movies and watched Wall-E. I'm not sure who had more fun, but I think they both ate way too much candy! :o) When bed time came around that night, Gabriel was literally jumping on his bed for an hour! I think it was a much needed Daddy-son day.

Talking to Jesus

The things kids say and think of at this age just amazes me and makes me smile. At dinner a couple of nights ago, Gabriel reached for my hand and said "Let's pray" Well, we had already prayed, so I told Gabriel he could pray...and he said "I want to see Jesus" So I ask to clarify "You want to SEE Jesus?" "Yes. I hear Jesus" Again I just check "You HEAR Jesus?" "Yes Mom" (Mom is what he calls me these days...sad are the days gone by where I was mommy) So, curious, I ask "What did Jesus say?" Gabriel looked at me as serious as ever and said "He said HI". Silly mom.

He is also learning about is body parts. ALL of them. And it makes for hilarious conversations when he becomes curious about why mom and daddy don't look the same. :o) For any parties interested, I can e-mail you this conversation separately, and it IS funny. :o

Happy Father's Day

This is a little post for my sweet husband. I fall in love with him a little more every time I see him with our son. Happy Father's Day to all our Fathers and fathers-to-be.

What is a Dad
God took the strength of a mountain,
The majesty of a tree,
The warmth of a summer sun,
The calm of a quiet sea,
The generous soul of nature,
The comforting arm of night,
The wisdom of the ages,
The power of the eagle's flight,
The joy of a morning in spring,
The faith of a mustard seed,
The patience of eternity,
The depth of a family need,
Then God combined these qualities,
When there was nothing more to add,
He knew His masterpiece was complete,

And so, He called it ... Dad

Poo-Poo in the Potty Cake

That's right...I made Gabriel a Poo-poo in the potty cake on Sunday to celebrate...well, you know. Last Monday we started intensive potty training 101, and we barely left the house for an entire week. And by golly, it worked!! I've never been so proud! (wiping tears) The joy of not changing diapers...of not BUYING diapers....it's fantastic!

So. We celebrated. (And yes, that cake is made like a toilet seat with...brownies in the center)

Going back to school!

Okay - so, I'm doing it. Jonathan and I decided that now was a perfect time, and it would not get any easier with juggling Gabriel and/or future children. So, I officially registered for classes this morning at the Art Institute of Atlanta!! I'm starting with the Diploma program in Culinary - emphasis in Baking and Pastry. And, I'll just add on from there. I decided that pairing this degree with my Bachelors in Business, I should be able to do something fun!! So, I'm nervous...excited....getting a new lunch pail... :o) I start on July 19th....I'll keep you posted.

Mini Vacation

We found out last minute that Jonathan had Thursday and Friday off last week, so we decided to take a quick vacation and introduce Gabriel to the wonders of the beach. We went to Hilton Head Island, SC Thur and Fri and then to Savannah for a night, and returned home on Saturday. Gabriel was so excited when he actually saw the beach, that he woke up on Friday morning at 6:30 telling me that the sun was up and it was time to go to the beach. Here are just a few from the beach, the pool, and Savannah.

We just checked into the hotel, and Gabriel couldn't wait to run out on the beach.
Jonathan and his little boy.
Playing in the water with his bucket - he found lots of sand dollars.
The heated indoor pool. He has no fear with the pool.
A rare family photo.
Sandcastle time (I got to read a book!!)
Gabriel's favorite part is destroying it.
Daddy body slammed Gabriel on the bed.
In Savannah, on the Trolley Tour.
Out on Riverstreet.
